Hertz Car Rental

Hertz Car Rental came to IBM iX to redesign their website from the ground up. I worked as a design lead, focusing on UX and UI. Working directly with shareholders, Hertz’s design directors and scrums, I would implement and lead the direction on new features, re-configuring existing ones, help manage an existing design system and created prototypes originally with Sketch/InVision until swapping over mid-project to Adobe XD, where we had to learn the program at an accelerated rate.

The old experience from Hertz was dated and ready for an update, both visually and experientially.

Legacy site

We created a design system from the ground up by redefining Hertz secondary & tertiary colors, text styles, iconography and button styles. We then took these and started to create A-Spots, navigational headers and footers, drop down fields and secondary button styles with hover and disabled effects.

Design System

A large focus of mine was the reservation and modify sections of the website. We had to relearn the best way for users to quickly and efficiently reserve a car for an upcoming trip, along with modifying that reservation in case last-minute changes were needed. During this period, I began traveling every three weeks to Chicago to make the team cohesiveness run more smoothly and for my design expertise to be more readily available to any developer, stakeholder or project manager who needed a quick answer.
